(Dilwar Khan, a Bangladeshi poet, was born in Bharthokhola, South Surma, Sylhet District on 1 January 1937, known as Gono Manusher Kobi (poet of the mass people), he was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1980, later on received Bangla Academy Fellowship in 1981 and Ekushey Padak in 2008 by Bangladesh Government. Khan died on 10 October 2013. He wrote a large number of poems and songs. When asked what his philosophy of life was, he answers with the following lines of a poem:

The Flute of Eternity

Civilization with Fossils
I desired to go at Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro
To discern with the eyes the beauty of an ancient civilization,
Will perceive diving deep why there is a dark cave in its bosom?

The formula of advancement lies in Copernicus of the past
The vision runs through the space in quest of infinity
Time struts along behind with a gentle laugh
Lover from love, comes and goes with partners
Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro demand far- reaching search
Why the Aryan and the non-Aryan emerged in human society
Why is there human blood in the delicate works of nature?
The thirsty language of civilization always wants sharp intellect.
The moving of the earth round the sun with the civilization of fossils
With olden non-Aryan knowledge, the Aryan intellect repays its debt.
* মাত্র ৫ বছর বয়সে তিনি বাবাকে হারান। ১৬ বছর বয়সে স্কুল থেকে ঝড়ে পড়েন। ১৭ বছরের মাথায় মোট ৪ বার চাকরী হারিয়েছিলেন। ১৮ বছর বয়সে বিয়ের পিঁড়িতে বসেন। ১৯ বছর বয়সে তিনি বাবা হন। ২০ বছর বয়সে তার স্ত্রী তাঁকে ফেলে রেখে চলে যায় আর কন্যা সন্তানটিকেও নিয়ে যায় সাথে।
সেনাবাহিনীতে যোগদান করেন এবং সেখানে ব্যর্থ হন। ইনস্যুরেন্স কোম্পানীতে যোগদান করেন এবং সেখানেও সফলতার দেখা পান নি। নিজের মেয়েকে নিজেই অপহরণ করতে গিয়েছিলেন এবং সেখানেও ব্যর্থ হন। চাকরী নিয়েছিলেন রেললাইনের কন্ডাকটর হিসেবে, সুবিধে করতে পারেন নি।
অবশেষে এক ক্যাফেতে রাধুনীর চাকুরী নেন। ৬৫ বছর বয়সে তিনি অবসরে গিয়েছিলেন। অবসরে যাবার প্রথম দিন সরকারের কাছ থেকে ১০৫ ডলারের চেক পেয়েছিলেন। তাঁর কাছে মনে হয়েছিল জীবন তাঁর মূল্যহীন।
আত্মহত্যা করবার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছিলেন তিনি। এরপর একটি গাছের নিচে বসে জীবনে কি কি অর্জন করেছেন তাঁর একটা লিস্ট বানাতে শুরু করলেন।
তখন তাঁর কাছে মনে হল জীবনে এখনো অনেক কিছু করবার বাকি আছে। আর তিনি বাকি সবার চাইতে একটি জিনিসের ব্যাপারে বেশি জানেন- তা হল রন্ধনশিল্প।
তিনি ৮৭ ডলার ধার কই না হয়ে সঠিক পরিকল্পনা করে সমানের দিকে এগিয়ে যান। দেরিতে হলেও, অবশ্যই আপনি সফলকাম হবেন।
তিনি ৮৭ ডলার ধার করলেন সেই চেকের বিপরীতে আর কিছু মুরগী কিনে এনে নিজের রেসিপি দিয়ে সেগুলো ফ্রাই করলেন।
এরপর Kentucky তে প্রতিবেশীদের দ্বারে দ্বারে গিয়ে সেই ফ্রাইড চিকেন বিক্রি করা শুরু করলেন!

৬৫ বছর বয়সে তিনি দুনিয়া ছাড়তে চেয়েছিলেন আর ৮৮ বছর বয়সে এসে Colonel Sanders বিলিয়নার বনে গিয়েছিলেন।
